Organization was founded by Charles Minot "Minnie" Dole (1899-1976) in 1938. He was also responsible for the formation of the 10th Mountain Division. Many veterans of the 10th Mountain Divisions were responsible for the early NSP divisions after WWII. The National Ski Patrol is the largest winter rescue organization in the world.
